The Company

Founded over 180 years ago, José Maria da Fonseca is one of Portugal’s leading wine producers, with a presence in more than 70 countries. Its portfolio includes over 30 high-quality brands, representing the country’s main wine regions. Over the generations, the company has successfully combined tradition and modernity, preserving a unique heritage while meeting the expectations of national and international consumers.

José Maria da Fonseca is also committed to sustainability, adopting responsible practices in vineyard management and the use of natural resources.

José Maria da Fonseca House Museum

Located in Vila Nogueira de Azeitão, the House Museum dates back to the 19th century and was restored in 1923 by Swiss architect Ernesto Korrodi. The museum preserves the history of the family and the company, highlighting the old cellars — Adega da Mata, Adega dos Teares Novos, and Adega dos Teares Velhos — where wines over 100 years old can be found.

Visitors can learn about the brand’s history, explore the historic cellars, and taste some of the wines produced. The wine shop also offers a selection of regional gourmet products.

Wine Corner by José Maria da Fonseca

The Wine Corner is the brand’s restaurant and wine bar, located within the House Museum. Here, visitors can taste the full José Maria da Fonseca wine portfolio, accompanied by simple yet high-quality regional cuisine.

The space features two indoor rooms and a terrace, providing a relaxed environment to enjoy wines and tapas, alone or with friends. An immersive experience that combines history, flavors, and the tradition of one of Portugal’s most iconic wine houses.
